Kasserine Pass

Well at least that is what it felt like. Mid War scenario of Germans versus Americans. You don't get much for 71 points if you are American and as they are green troops the their skill check is 5+ on a D6. Couple this with Stuarts being hit on a 2+ because of their rating as reckless and you start to get a picture of what this battle will be like.

The scenario itself was a hasty attack with the Germans as attacker, which was just as well because I had to leave my platoon of medium tanks off the board in reserve. Now anyone who knows about my luck with reserves knows I had better start praying.

I did get a couple of hits in, but over all it was a walk over.

This scenario also gave me another look at version 4 mid war and I have to say I'm not a fan. Everything from circular minefields to infantry moving faster than half tracks and tanks to the same fast infantry never getting fatigued just seems silly. Instead of armour rushing about the battlefield infantry is. I might try it again, but won't be thrill to that is for sure.

Creighton Abrams

The first part of my tank company HQ is assembled. Will be interesting to see how he performs on the battlefield. Even Patton admitted that Abrams was his only "peer" as an armored commander.

Giving the US Army Its Due

Having finished some German and Canadian artillery, I thought it was time to work on some of my American units.

I found this army box set at my local game store about a year ago. Hard to find now and a good deal. I have been reading about the breakout from Normandy and the Lorraine Campaign and see the potential for some really interesting games. The box set provides you with vehicles to build a 7th Armored Division Tank Company.

In this box set you get 16 vehicles. The contents includes; Company HQ (1 x M4A3E2 Jumbo & Warrior Creighton Abrams with Thunderbolt VII), 2 Tank Platoons (each with 2 x M4A3 (Late), 2 x M4A3 (76 mm), 1 x M4A3E2 Jumbo), and an armored field artillery battery (3 x M7 Priest, 1 x Sherman OP tank).

You also get assorted goodies like; 1 x Easy Eight objective marker, 1 x Chaffee objective marker, 1 x US Armored Token Set, 1 x US dice, 26 rare earth magnets, and 5 x decal sheets.

All in all a very complete package. I don't remember the actual price, but it was much more reasonable than what poses for army box sets now.

So the plan is to tackle one platoon / component at a time and work my way through the box set.
